Here at Settlers Lifestyle Village, our motto is simple – care first, always. We prioritize the well-being of our residents above all else, and that’s why we offer comprehensive care on every level. From health services to physical and emotional support, we believe these resources should always be within reach, helping our residents maintain both their independence and emotional well-being.
Nurses on site
That’s why our nurses are available on-site around the clock, equipped and ready to provide high-quality care at a moment’s notice. Importantly, our nurses are more than just medical professionals, they are also compassionate individuals who take the time to listen, support, and empower our residents to live their best lives.
Preferential access to private hospital care
We offer 24/7 emergency response, so you can feel secure in knowing you have access to the assistance you need when you need it most. With preferential access to private hospital care at Fairview Care, part of the Premier Lifestyle Villages group, residents can rest assured that they have the highest quality of care available whenever they may need it.
For some of our residents, this level of care is paramount to their well-being:
“Knowing that help is readily available is very reassuring. Nurses are on-site 24/7, so if assistance is needed just call them or pop on down to see them”.
“Four years ago Sam had a stroke. This is another thing that coming in here gives us – the opportunity for nursing, and you’ve got the alarms if anything happens.”
“There is a weight lifted off your shoulder. Once you settle in you think I should have done this sooner. People often say we should have been here 5 years earlier.”
Ours is a caring community
As a community, we understand that care doesn’t just mean addressing physical needs – it’s about creating an environment that fosters a culture of kindness, compassion, and understanding. Our commitment to care is what sets us apart.
Here’s how some residents describe their supportive community:
“There is a well-being group here. You can say ‘I’m lonely’, or someone could point to a person and say – ‘that person needs help’ and they will take you out for coffee.”
“…and you have the same support for dementia. If your husband has dementia you say ‘I can’t cope with my husband all the time’, and people take him out for an hour. And of course, you’ve got the nurse. There is a lot of care here – a lot of caring people.”
“ … usually most people are perceptive and very caring. This is a happy village and it’s a homely village. It’s not clinical, it’s a home.”
“When I came back from the hospital two wonderful people in the village said – ‘Mary, we’re going to do your shopping for you, and they still do my shopping. I make a list and ring them when they’re going, and they get what I need. One day I said to them my garden needs more care. Trudy comes in every now and again and tidies up …”
A sense of empathy and understanding
“There is a lot of care here – a lot of caring people. If someone gets Covid everyone cares and drops things off to people. It’s residents in the well-being group. They’ll drive you to the hospital for an appointment which is a huge thing for me because there are a lot of people who can’t drive …”
